Saw and learnt some interesting facts about the animals here.

There is a special type of hybrid animal known locally as Hjopke. It's half Yak (male) and half Cow (female). Hjopke does not reproduce among themselves to form the calf. Their main purpose of exisitence is to act as animal porters. This is because they are capable of travelling from low altitude (1000m) to high altitude (5000m). Unlike their father, a Yak can only live above 3000m. A mule can only live below 3000m.

As such, the Hjopke is the ideal choice for transporting things (like kerosene, cooking gas, meat, bottled drinks) and we can see many of them along the trek. Have a look: https://www.facebook.com/lin.guoyao/videos/10159170686577306/?t=2

Additionally, horses can also be seen in various altitude and mainly for transporting people.

I was quite lucky to cross path a wild Himalayan deer and best of all, it looked at my camera when I shot it 🙂

I was also surprised to see a 'mini maze' along the trek (see photo). I think it pretty obvious what that is used for right? 🙂
