Day 6: 5100m!
05 Mar 2020 / Linus Lin
Day 6: 2hr 40m later, we reached Nagsargha peak (5100m) from Dingboche (4360m)
1st half of the trek was a 45 degree gradient while the 2nd half went as steep as 60 degree. The last part (about 10min) was rocky so I had to be on my 4 limbs.
My %SpO2 went as low as 45% at the last part (surprised I was still conscious) and I had to stop once every 3 steps to pant to push my %SpO2 up! To make things worse, it was windy today and the chill was quite unbearable. Then I realised I should have worn a third layer... Lesson learnt!
Honestly, I won't be able to make it up there today if not for my guide who carried my bags and trekking poles.
But all the pain and suffering is well worth it as we sat at the peak of Nagsargha marvelling the views with 3 other successful climbers.
The downward trek was much easier which took us only 1 hour to be back to Dingboche for lunch. Along the way, I slipped 4 times due to the pebbles, rocks and the gradient. Fortunately no harm was done as my trekking poles came to the rescue in all 4 occasions and I have good Trekking boots.
It's all resting now and tomorrow we will proceed to Lobuche (4910m). If all goes well, we will arrive at Everest Base Camp (5364m) on Tuesday and then Kalapatthar peak (5545m) on Wednesday early morning for the sunrise view of Mount Everest.
