Day 9: Like a speedy bullet, we descended from Gorak Shep Village (5180m) to Doboche (3880m) by about 1300m in altitude in 8 hours, covering about 21km horizontally. Here's a quick video of Gorak Shep Village: https://www.facebook.com/lin.guoyao/videos/10159189746712306/?t=0

We in fact, took the route of the Everest Marathon held every year in May which starts at Everest Base Camp and ends at Namche Bazaar (about 42.2km).

The fastest runner in 2019 took about 3 hours 47 minutes and 16 seconds to cover it.

The fastest non-Nepali runner took 5 hour 48 minutes.

Its not a straight forward downward run. It involves upwards run as well. The road conditions are rocky, sandy and involve crossing dangling bridges.

It's quite enticing to join this run one day. The slowest runner in 2019 took about 16 hours to complete the race.

Today, the 2 of us walked for 6 hours 5 minutes (excluding stopping for lunch and breaks) and covered about 60% of the route just to escape from the cold.

So we are pretty sure we won't come in last in the race

Everest Marathon! Can consider.
