Day 2: 3405m!
05 Mar 2020 / Linus Lin
Day 2 was quite challenging. We 1st descended about 300m for lunch, then ascended about 900m to reach Namche. The 900m ascent took about 3 hours of continuous upward trek either on rocky steps or sandy 20-35 degree path.
My %SpO2 went down to 71% during the trek and heart rate about 150bpm. Had to pant through my neck gaiter which acted as a filter, a sun block and a warmer.
The trek upwards seems to be endless. The altitude displayed on my fitness tracker was my main source of motivation to see it slowly increased towards 3405m.
It was a small victory moment to eventually reach Namche at 2pm in slightly less than 3 hours.
It will be acclimatization day tomorrow. Can take a short break to let my body get use to the new pressure and oxygen level.
My barometer shows a pressure of 66,690Pa (66% from sea level) now.
